Intro: In our day and Age, I believe the most common condition within the church is spiritual amnesia. Many of us have lived the “christian” life for so long that we have forgotten who we are, what our purpose in life is, and who this whole life is about. We may know bible verses, or fun songs like “Father Abraham” and” I’m in the Lords army,” and we may even have an extensive knowledge about the Bible that came from our time in Sunday school.
Despite everything we believe, we couldn't tell you why we do, and how we have applied it outside these four walls. We might have fond memories about Jesus, but these are just memories and they have no effect on our day to day life. We could tell you that we definitely aren't like “those people” on that side of the tracks so that we feel better about ourselves, but to be honest we look nothing like the God we claim to believe in. We have forgotten who we were, sinners just like “them,” and we completely forget that we are still on a journey between where God found us and where he is bringing us.
Maybe we don’t have amnesia, but rather “false memory syndrome.” you may have walked an aisle and gone under some water but nothing changed. You felt good about yourself, and you really felt like God was real in that moment, but from that point until now God has had no say in your life whatsoever. our life looks the same as it did 10 years ago, and the word “sai
